Residential Services
Bayes Achievement Center, Inc., in an effort to re-invent residential treatment, offers a residential treatment program and non-public school staffed by trained professionals and paraprofessionals. The staff at BAC continually work toward providing a warm and caring family-like environment that replicates the nurturing environment of a normal home.
The teaching-home environment has been specifically designed to foster the independence and development of the individual. Unlike a hospital setting, the teaching home environment nurtures the person in a normalized manner, assisting them in reaching their maximum potential. All treatment settings, be it in the teaching homes, at school or during recreational and leisure activities, maintain a 1:3 staff to client ratio. BAC teaching homes are staffed by trained professionals who ensure that the client’s daily needs are being met. Each client's behavior modification program is carried out across all treatment settings to emphasize with them the importance of maintaining behavioral expectations regardless of the client’s milieu.
Treatment is individualized but only after a thorough evaluation by the appropriate professionals has been completed. Treatment is functional, culturally competent, applicable and transferable. BAC respects cultural diversity, religious differences and each individual’s unique circumstances that bring them into care. Treatment is never limited to medication. Persons served are not medicated solely because they exhibit behavior problems or learning difficulties. Under the direction and supervision of trained medical staff, attempts to reduce medications for behavior control will be done gradually with the goal of minimizing the use of medication. The student will then be provided the opportunity to function in the most natural and normal learning environment possible.
