Music Therapy
Music therapy is the therapeutic use of music to motivate a client to pursue and achieve non-musical goals. A client is considered appropriate for music therapy when he or she shows a significant assist through music in the pursuit of such goals. Eligibility is determined through a music therapy assessment.
Music therapy is listed as a way to meet educational and social/recreational needs. These goals are addressed based on each student’s IEP objectives or counseling goals. Students are engaged in turn-taking exercises and appropriate skill development activities centered on music.
It is the mission of music therapy at Bayes Achievement Center to provide students with a positive music-centered environment for practicing appropriate behaviors while promoting dignity and normalization for each individual. Students are given the opportunity to succeed and become leaders within everyday groups as well as address IEP objectives. Music experiences are offered to all students at all levels of functioning.
Music Therapy at Bayes Achievement Center is provided by a board certified Music Therapist.
